Alexandra Kalvenaite Kazickas Alexandra Kalvenaite was born on June 17, 1920 in Panevezys, Lithuania. She met her future husband Joseph Kazickas while studying at Vytautas Magnus University. They got married on August 15, 1941. Their daughter Jurate was born in 1943. The Kazickas family fled Lithuania at the end of WWII in 1944. The family immigrated to the USA from Germany in 1947. In 1951, Mr. J.Kazickas earned Ph.D. from the Yale University. The education from this prestigious school later helped him in the world of business and allowed him to meet with some of the most influential people in the World. In the USA, Mrs. A.Kazickas gave birth to four sons: Joseph Mindaugas in 1951, Alexander Kestutis in 1953, Michael Vytautas in 1956 and John Algimantas in 1957. Unfortunately, in 1976 during a trip around the World, Alexander Kestutis suddenly passed away in Nepal. Mrs.Alexandra Kazickas is a social figure who passionately nurtures our Lithuanian culture. She speaks and writes fluent Lithuanian. Her youthful energy, femininity and humble attentive nature with others is an inspiration and a wonderful example to all Lithuanians. She is a mother and a devoted wife to her very successful businessman/philanthropist husband. She continues to be a very committed supporter of his work. Because of their extensive experience in the world of business, the Kazickas family invites foreign investors to Lithuania. The family uses their international political relationships to benefit the State of Lithuania. They support various projects to preserve Lithuanian culture, language and history internationally as well as locally in Lithuania. The family is very much involved in charity. The Kazickas Family Foundation (KFF) (http://odysseyofhope.com/foundation.html) was established in 2000. Mrs. A and Dr. J.Kazickas, their children and grandchildren live in the USA, though every year they visit Lithuania. |
